Background Info on instacart
“Our mission is to create a world where everyone has access to the food they love and more time to enjoy it together”
“Our vision is to be the world leader in online grocery.”
Instacart is an online grocery delivery service where a customer can order practically anything from a selection of stores which include Wegmans, Costco, Tops, Petco, Aldi, CVS, Price right and more depending on the region. The company operates by connecting customers to one of two shoppers either an in store shopper who remains in a specific store for the duration of their shift or a full service shopper who travels from location to location to complete delivery. Both shoppers can shop for the items however full service has more mobility in where they shop as currently in store shoppers are only located in wegmans or tops ( in The NY region). Personally speaking the company operates in a fairly straightforward and efficient manner from an employee side there can be a few hiccups when customers are unclear but for the most part employees are self sufficient.
The company has come under fire in the past for some of its actions but this was before my employment so i can only speak what’s already spoken publicly. Currently all past controversies have been addressed for full service , while In-store shoppers seem to be relatively unfazed but this is more than likely due to the support in store shoppers receive from shift-leads and site managers. The company does have a high turnover rate however as its always hiring and replacing employees who leave for one reason or another.

Instacart’s logo is sweet looking and obviously relates to an item that they can choose to buy. I personally think this was a great idea to create because some people can’t come out of their homes, have cars etc and this is for someone to go shop for themselves. The mission and vision statements are very important for company’s and Instacart’s statements are on point and are accurate on how they do business overall.

I think that Instacart was a great idea for elderly people, injured people, or anyone who is busy at home or stuck somewhere and don’t have enough time to get groceries. For me, I like to cook. I just looked up online if Instacart was in my area, Chicago, and it is available! I signed up to see what stores it would allow me to order from, and I have to say I am impressed. It showed every grocery store and pet store that I know of around me. I think that maybe they should open their company up larger to add not only grocery shopping, but any pickup service to any store you need.

Strangely enough after you posted this i saw an order for the first time for what i believed to be a restaurant, I didn’t accept it because i was confused and had never seen it but they also recently added the option for customers to order prescriptions.

Instacart is one of few companies that is entirely developed around their mission statement. Including the mission statement really tied together the services of the company with their beliefs. Instacart is just a footstep towards complete autonomy across the nation. The convenience of Instacart allows for people to not even worry about going to the grocery store, something we all dread at some point. Will services like Instacart lead to grocery stores seeing far less direct customer interaction?

Physical stores will always have a place in the world , even if its not in the form that we know it as now people will always travel and go places and there will always be new business that pop up that may start off as physical stores.

I had never heard of this company before. This is a neat idea, I can see how this would really benefit the elderly and disabled. However, both those demographics are at high risk for contracting COVID 19. Without the proper PPE, the whole situation is frightening.

Yes hence my concerns i worry because many people outside of this age group are mothers with children and they are also at risk for contraction and have more chance for it to fatal

I think this company could be really beneficial to many people. I agree with Madison that the company could look into growing through offering to pick up items from other stores other than grocery stores, pet stores, and like you just mentioned restaurants. I wish you had shared a little more about the history of the company, like who created it, and how long it has been existing along with the past controversies.
